The Düzce Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan focuses on improving the safety, accessibility, sustainability, and efficiency of all modes of transportation. It proposes a city supported by high-quality public transportation, walking, and cycling.
Based on field surveys and analysis studies in line with the city's environmental planning and zoning decisions, as well as population and land use structures projected for 2035, the aim is to establish a sustainable transportation system that contributes to local economic development and the planned development of the city. This system minimizes environmental damage, adheres to the principle of social equality, ensures social integration, is compatible with the city's historical and cultural identity, and encompasses qualities such as accessibility, comfort, safety, and reliability.
Some of its key objectives include:
Increasing the bicycle mode share from 2% in 2021 to 5% in the short term and 10% by 2035 with the implementation of bicycle infrastructure.
Targeting a pedestrian mode share of 30% by 2035.
Aiming for one-third of educational trips to be made by walking and 10% by cycling.
Targeting a mode share of 20% walking, 10% cycling, 40% public transportation, and service for work-related trips.
